Getting referred for private treatment
You will usually need to see a GP before you can be referred to one of our HCA hospitals.
When you visit your GP, you should tell them that you would like private treatment.
The choice of specialists and hospital is important and one that you should be involved in. Many patients like to find out where they would like to go before they ask their GP for a referral. Your GP can then help to advise you if this choice is appropriate for you.
We can give you a list of specialists and hospitals and you can ask your GP to write a letter referring you. Often doctors will write a general referral letter with details of your symptoms and they will allow the patient to go away and choose the private doctor they want.
